Existing wiring/ electric system
I been working on a EV project and I wanted to change the whole electric system/wiring etc. of the car since the engine was stuffed up when I got it...

Anyway I wanted to know is it very hard to do and if at all I get into it are there any recommendations to make my EV ride better?

RE: Existing wiring/ electric system
What sought of a car do you have? and what is your experience with EV conversions/ vehicles in general? The wiring job depends heavily on the car the you are modifyng. With the right skills and advice you should be able to do things properly. Older cars are easier off course.

Yeh the kind of car you are going to modify will play a big role in determining what all needs to be changed. Older cars are easier to fiddle with. Newer cars with a lot of technology like air bags and all gauges etc are a lot harder. I would say dont change the whole electric system if things are in good working order. Good luck!

RE: Existing wiring/ electric system
My car is a 2001 Mazda 626 if that helps. It was flood damaged last year, the engine is stuffed as I said earlier. Otherwise the car is good. I wanted to change the whole electric system since I was going to change the engine and do not want anything to go wrong because of the old (possibly damaged) wiring.

I c. You mazda must be loaded with luxury features like airbags, electric mirrors, power windows etc. So youll have queit a bit of work to be done.

Another thing. You need to be aware of local laws that affect you.
Some laws only allow certain changes and the use of certain equipment to things like Air Bags etc.. so be mindful of that

If it was water damaged, you shoul change the wiring. I think you should look up some tutorials and maybe use the assistance of someone who has done this before. Good Luck , and dont forget to tell us how you go!

that sounds like a lot of work its one of a job to rewire a machine, takes more time then actually wiring it up ! but yes the experience will be great you will learn a lot and do make sure to mark each of the wires you plug out and replace simultaneously....good luck Smile

I don't know about better, but if you want it to work, then I would advise you not to temper with it. They system is very complicated.
